The person behind the app

He saw order abroad. He's building it for Africa.

Iain Jason Afanyo-Markin is the founder of RideSure. A trip to Germany — watching orderly taxi ranks, metered cabs, and properly connected transport hubs work exactly as they should — convinced him African cities deserved that same standard of order and accountability. He's building RideSure to bring it to ride-hailing across Ghana, and eventually the continent.

What RideSure delivers

Built to a standard, not a shortcut.

Verified, always

National ID, license, and vehicle registration checked before any driver gets access — the same bar riders expect from serious platforms anywhere in the world.

Accountability built in

Live GPS tracking and in-vehicle camera recording run on every trip, not as an upgrade. If something needs reviewing, there's a real record — not just a claim.

Trained for the job

Every driver completes a structured customer-service and conduct programme before certification, so the interaction feels as considered as the ride itself.

Ghanaian-run, globally benchmarked

Headquartered in Winneba, operating in Accra — built by a Ghanaian team holding itself to the same safety and service standard riders expect anywhere else.

Ride-hailing insights across Africa, 2026 industry research
Africa's ride-hailing sector is now a serious research category in its own right — RideSure is Iain's attempt to make that category work better, starting close to home.

What drives the build

Three principles behind every decision

01

Prevention over reaction

Every feature is designed to stop a bad outcome before it happens — not to respond after the fact.

02

Local first, always

Headquartered in Winneba, operating in Accra — RideSure is a Ghanaian company built around how Ghanaians actually move, not an app adapted from somewhere else.

03

Trust is earned in details

A verified ID badge, a shared trip link, a working SOS button — trust comes from a hundred small things done properly.

"
I wasn't trying to invent something new. I was trying to make the ride-hailing we already have work properly — safe enough that my mother would feel comfortable using it at night.
